Scouting America Mission Statement
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Weekly Troop Meetings
Sunday evenings 7:00-8:30 pm at the Merion Square Scout House; corner of Youngs Ford and Conshohocken State Roads, Gladwyne
Activities
Weekly Meetings; Monthly Camping or Outdoor activities; Regular Community Service opportunities (Parent help welcome but not required); Annual Ski Trip; Gladwyne Cleanup Day; Library Plant Sale Set up and Tear Down; Memorial Day Open House and Parade in Gladwyne; Summer Camp
Scout Handbook
Upon joining, the first item each Scout receives is the Scout Handbook which contains information on rank requirements and general information on the Scouting program.
The Scout Handbook is needed at every Troop meeting.
Registration and Fees
Each Scout must submit a completed Scouts BSA membership application signed by a parent or guardian and dues must be paid prior to participation in any Scout activities.
Annual Dues, which are set each year by the Troop Committee, include registration fees and Scout Life magazine.
Requirements for Adults on Camping Trips
All adults staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered as an Adult Leader. Adult Leaders must register in the position(s) they are serving in. Registration as a merit badge counselor does not meet this requirement.
